la·sa·gna also la·sa·gne (lƏ-zän'yƏ)n.
1. Pasta in flat, very wide strips.
2. A dish made by baking such pasta with layers of sauce and fillings such as cheese or meat.
I first noticed this recipe for "Polenta Lasagna" because I thought it looked interesting. Part way through, it struck me: by definition, this cannot be lasagna. For something to be lasagna requires that it have lasagna noodles. Otherwise, frito boats could be "Frito Lasagna," tuna casserole becomes "Tuna Lasagna," and so on.
